Asociación Argadini
Talking with art
Developed by the Fundación Orange and the Asociación Argadini brings the world of art and culture, closer to people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) through emotional education and creativity.
The project is based along the lines of the ARGADINI Emotional Education through Creativity programme for cultural and social integration of people with special needs. This programme, developed by the Argadini Association, aims to go beyond mere training insoft skills. Their intention is to invite the young person to care about and underpin one of their most vital aspects, social and emotional affection.
Starting with visits to various museums and creative work about perception, during these visits talking with art aims to teach without cutting out content, gradually nurturing the learning needs of students and their curiosity about a world that requires a largedose of abstraction, imagination and the absence of bias when interpreting, forming an opinion and work.
The Programme is in a scenario unprecedented until now, because it focuses its work on the involvement of people with ASD and provides anew way of looking at things in three major areas:
-The field of artistic interpretation; with peculiar pictorial reading that make up the world for these people.
-The field of the quality of life; comparing the way in which art also helps these people in the realization of their dreams and their personal well-being.
-The artistic reproduction; students role play and reproduce works of art which they work on in museums, as well as acting out their own experience of their visits.
The programme is open and flexible and is designed to accommodate the needs of the students. The methodology is personalized and lets each individual progress at their own pace.
The General objectives are to emphasize familiarisation with museums and art in general, in both a passive and active way, in cognitive stimulation and the enjoyment of perception, ability to discriminate and understand, through art. This is carried out on a weekly basis over a period of an hour and a half in Argadini's own museums and classrooms. The programme is designed for three academic courses.
Currently there are three groups in Madrid, two adult groups in the Nuevo Horizonte (New Horizon) centre and one for children in the Araya centre for autistic people. Talking with Art is being developed in the Reina Sofia National Art Centre, Thyssen Bornemisza, The Prado and the National Archeological museums .
